I am a bit of a story teller, so pull up a chair and grab a coffee or tea, because my introduction to you is a story I'd like to share.

I was a Spanish major in college and decided to study abroad in Toledo, Spain. I chose Spain because of the beautiful Castellano Spanish and the country's rich history. I also really wanted to visit the town of Avila, where I encountered a wonderful nun named Teresa. To be fair, I didn't actually meet her because she lived in the 1500s, but I learned a lot about her. She was a people-person, a leader, a writer, and a teacher; she was confident, kind, witty, and humble, among many other virtues and talents. Though we are separated by an ocean and many centuries, I admire her gumption, zeal, tremendous intellect, and her courage. You may have heard of her as St. Teresa of Avila. I hope to emulate her in my life.

Fast forward to a professional career beginning in the U.S. Air Force. I was a Force Support Officer, which is very close to the traditional HR field. From there I worked as an HR Manager, a Human Resources Generalist and a Human Resources Business Partner. I worked with organizations big and small, in both the public and private sectors, and I have honed my craft with a true love for HR. After 15 years of creating HR solutions for organizations, I decided to launch my own HR consulting services and chose the name Avila as a nod to St. Teresa and a reminder to orient my work for the good of others.

Avila HR consulting services focuses on the needs of my clients, tailoring the work I do to suit the scope of the project, the desired outcomes, and always with a view to the long-term success of the client. That’s the “business” side of what I can accomplish.

On a personal level, I want every client to feel they have in me not just a trusted HR professional but a friend: someone who gets them, supports them, and strives to help them with genuine enthusiasm. My values of truth, wisdom and friendship are the hallmark of my work.

I am excited for the opportunity to coalesce my HR knowledge with my personal Christian values. Reach out to me and let's see what I can do to help you.
